Prior to his post as ambassador to Egypt, Al Ansari was Qatar’s ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of South Africa, according to the Qatari foreign ministry.

Al Ansari succeeds Ambassador Salem bin Mubarak Al Shafi, who has served in Egypt since August 2021.

Since re-establishing ties in 2021, the relationship between Egypt and Qatar has experienced significant developments across various fronts.

The Al-Ula Declaration for Arab reconciliation, signed by Egypt and other nations in Saudi Arabia in January 2021, marked the conclusion of a three-year rift between the two countries.

In June 2022, Emir Tamim made his first visit to Egypt after the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In September 2022, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi made his first visit to Doha since assuming office in 2014.

The two countries celebrated the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in December 2022.

In February 2023, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly visited Doha upon the invitation of his Qatari counterpart, Khaled bin Khalifa Al Thani, to discuss opportunities to increase Qatari investments in Egypt and double the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.
