The 31-year-old had been out of action since January and made a late substitute appearance in Arsenal's 1-0 victory over Brentford in the Carabao Cup, playing the last eight minutes of the game.

"There is nothing, absolutely nothing, to be compared with going back on the pitch after such a long time." Elneny wrote on his X account on Thursday.

He also expressed gratitude to the Arsenal fans for their warm welcome and thanked everyone at the club for their support in helping him come back stronger.

"Arsenal fans, made it even more special with your warm welcome yesterday, thank you guys and a huge thank you to everyone in the club for helping me to come back stronger. "

On the other hand, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta also expressed his happiness at Elneny's return, emphasizing his importance to the team.

"He has put in a tremendous amount of effort and work. I am genuinely pleased that he was able to get some minutes on the pitch today. He brings something special to the team."

Mohamed Elneny joined Arsenal in January 2016 and his contract with the club runs until June 2024.
