This year marks the 50th anniversary of Egypt’s historic triumph over Israel that led to the liberation of Sinai from Israeli occupation, a victory achieved under the leadership of the late President Anwar El-Sadat.

Earlier in September, the cabinet declared that Thursday 5 October would be a paid holiday for public sector employees.

In celebration of the occasion, all military museums will be open to the public for free from 1 to 6 October.

Moreover, as many as 550 events will be held in Cairo and other Egyptian governorates to commemorate the anniversary, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture.
