El-Sisi and Abdullah II stressed the priority of coordinating regional and international efforts towards ending the violence and exercising maximum restraint, to avoid further bloodshed and prevent more deterioration of the situation.

Both sides also agreed to continue and intensify coordination and consultation between Egypt and Jordan to achieve calm and reach a comprehensive and just settlement of the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution, in line with the relevant references of international legitimacy in a way that ensures regional peace and stability.

Following Hamas' unprecedented attack on Israel early on Saturday, the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared a state of war, launching retaliatory strikes in Gaza that have leveled buildings, killed nearly 370 Palestinians, including 20 children, and wounded 1,990.

The death toll of Palestinians killed by Israel has climbed to 370, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

Egypt has been exerting efforts since Saturday to de-escalate the situation amid the ongoing military escalation between Hamas and Israel.

Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry conducted phone conversations with various international and regional counterparts and officials to seek avenues for reducing tensions in the Gaza Strip.
