El-Sisi and his Emirati counterpart emphasized the importance of embarking on a path toward a just, comprehensive, and durable peace to ensure security and stability in the region.

Also on Sunday, El-Sisi spoke on the phone with various international and regional leaders and officials to seek avenues for reducing tensions in the Gaza Strip.

Battles between Palestinian fighters and Israeli forces raged for the third day on Monday, following a surprise military operation by Hamas early Saturday.

The death toll for both sides passed 1,100 dead.

Egypt has stressed ahead with efforts to help de-escalate the situation and restore calm in the enclave.

Egypt, a regional linchpin, had mediated ceasefires between Israel and Palestinian factions during similar episodes of fighting in Gaza.
