Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing, issued a statement on Tuesday, announcing a continuous barrage of rocket attacks aimed at Ashkelon in response to what they referred to as the "forced displacement of civilians" in the Gaza Strip.
Hamas' military wing issued a stern warning to Israel, cautioning against further civilian displacement.
The statement read, "Should the Israeli military persist with its policy of displacing civilians, the Al-Qassam Brigades will continue its bombardment of Ashkelon until it is entirely evacuated, subsequently shifting its focus to other cities."
The escalation in hostilities comes as Israel continues deadly and devastating airstrikes on the population in the Gaza Strip and puts plans in place to launch an all-out on the strip after Hamas carried out an unprecedented attack on Israel on Saturday.
