Ahmed Bendary, the NEA’s executive director, said four candidates presented their candidacy papers from 5-14 October.
President El-Sisi submitted his papers, along with three other aspiring candidates: Farid Zahran, head of the opposition Social Democratic Party; Abdel-Sanad Yamama, head of Egypt's oldest liberal party, the Wafd; and Hazem Omar, head of the People's Republican Party.
The NEA is expected to announce an initial list of candidates on Monday, according to a timeline announced by the authority in September, after disqualifying incomplete candidacy submissions.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Tantawy, a former MP and former head of the leftist Karama (Dignity) Party, ended his campaign on Friday as he fell short of the public endorsements required for a presidential bid.
In a press conference in Cairo, Tantawy said he secured only around 14,000 endorsements over the past few days.
Potential candidates must secure endorsements from at least 20 MPs or 25,000 citizens from at least 15 governorates.
Also, Gameela Ismail, the chairwoman of the Dostour (Constitution) Party, announced on Wednesday that she is dropping out of the presidential race based on a party decision.
Voting in Egypt will take place from 10 to 12 December. Egyptians abroad will cast their votes on 1-3 December.
The final result will be announced on 18 December if no run-off is required.
