Sisi probes military escalation in Gaza with Greek PM, Norwegian PM

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi reviewed the latest developments of the ongoing military escalation in the Gaza Strip with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store in two separate calls, according to the Egyptian presidency.

In his phone conversation with Mitsotakis, El-Sisi briefed him on the results of Egypt's ongoing contacts with all the relevant parties to drive de-escalation efforts and ensure safe passage of humanitarian relief into the coastal enclave.

The two sides agreed on the need for enhancing regional and international de-escalation efforts as a top priority to prevent the situation from getting more complicated.

In the call he received from Store, El-Sisi also reviewed Egyptian efforts with various parties to contain the volatile situation and prevent further escalation, the Egyptian presidency said.

El-Sisi also highlighted Cairo's efforts to revive the Middle East peace process and bring about a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace settlement to the Palestinian issue, based on the two-state solution, the spokesman noted.

The two sides also highlighted the importance of working diligently to stop the escalation, protect civilians, prevent targeting them, and deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, according to the presidency.
