In a meeting with France's Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna in Cairo on Monday, the Egyptian president emphasized the imperative need to de-escalate the Israeli offensive in Gaza, according to a statement by presidential spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy.

El-Sisi drew attention to the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the enclave and the international community's obligation to provide immediate relief to the affected population and alleviate their suffering.

Minister Colonna conveyed France's gratitude for Egypt's “wise and responsible” handling of this crucial regional matter from both political and humanitarian perspectives.

Both parties also expressed their shared concern regarding the current situation in Gaza and its potential threat to regional security and stability.

They underlined the necessity of preventing the expansion of the conflict, safeguarding the civilians, and upholding the international humanitarian law, noted the statement.

Both sides also urged relentless international efforts toward settling the Palestinian issue by reaching a just and comprehensive solution based on a two-state solution that ensures the security and stability of the region.
