The Ministry of Interior in Gaza sounded alarm bells on Monday afternoon about the severe drinking water crisis facing Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip refuting earlier Israel's claims that that it resumed water supplies to the southern parts of the strip.

Israel has cut off all drinking water for the 2.3 million residents of Gaza since the start of its war on Gaza on 7 October.

For 10 days straight, Israel has cut off water, food, and electricity for the Palestinians in the strip as it rains missiles on Gaza round-the-clock, destroying hundreds of homes and leaving a million people without shelter.

A spokesperson for the ministry stated that the situation has reached a critical point, with residents being compelled to consume unsafe water.

These dire conditions threaten to trigger a serious health crisis and put countless lives at risk, he said.

"The Gaza Strip is suffering from a very severe crisis in the availability of drinking water in light of the continued Israeli aggression," the spokesman emphasized, highlighting the urgent need for immediate intervention to address the escalating crisis.

On Sunday, after talks between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Joe Biden, Israel announced that it reopened the water supply to southern Gaza.

US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said Israel had resumed the water supply to southern Gaza.

Sullivan stated, "I have been in touch with my Israeli counterparts just within the last hour who reported to me that they have, in fact, turned the water pipe back on in southern Gaza," as reported by CNN.

The Israeli government said on Monday evening that it has resumed water supplies to Bani Suhaila near Khan Younis in the south of Gaza.

Meanwhile, the Israeli airstrikes on Gaza have killed 2,750 Palestinians and left nearly 10,000 injured.

Hamas attacks on Israel have killed more than 1,400 dead and hundreds injured.
