Ayman Safadi told al-Mamlaka TV that the war between Israel and Hammas was "pushing the region to the brink.”

He said the summit would be postponed.

The decision came following an Israeli airstrikes on the Baptist Hospital in Gaza killed at least 600 people.

The attack on the hospital would be by far the deadliest Israeli airstrike in five wars fought since 2008.

In a phone-in with Al-Jazeera channel, Safadi said the postponement is because the United States will not be able to make a decision to halt the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza.

“There is no use talking about anything except stopping the war,” Safdi said.

He added that the decision came after coordination with the authorities in Egypt and Palestine as well as talks with Washington.

Safadi also said that Biden's scheduled visit to Jordan on Wednesday was canceled.
