In the October 20 post on X (formerly Twitter), Thunberg can be seen holding a “stand with Gaza” placard along with 3 others also holding pro-Palestine, climate awareness posters.
Greta had posted the photo with a caption, “Week 270. Today we strike in solidarity with Palestine and Gaza. The world needs to speak up and call for an immediate ceasefire, justice, and freedom for Palestinians and all civilians affected.”
The Israeli education ministry said her stance on the war in Gaza "disqualifies her from being an educational and moral role model, and she is no longer eligible to serve as an inspiration and educator for Israeli students.”
The environmental activist was also condemned by over 100 Israeli activists for what they called her "one-sided" and "ill-informed" knowledge of the war.
Israel has heavily bombarded the Gaza Strip where at least 6,500 Palestinians have been killed so far, mostly women and children, according to Palestinian health ministry figures. This includes more than 2,700 children, more than 1,500 women, 346 elderly, and more than 17,400 wounded.
