The South African club secured a narrow 1-0 win over Ahly in Pretoria on Sunday, giving them an advantage heading into the second leg, which will be held in Cairo on Wednesday.
"We performed well, and it was a good match against a tough opponent," Mokwena stated to reporters after the game.
"I commend my players for their efforts throughout the match. In the second leg in Cairo, we will witness goals."
Sundowns have previously faced Ahly twice in Cairo during the past two seasons in the CAF Champions League. They emerged victorious with a 1-0 win in 2021 before playing to a 2-2 draw in the following season, which ultimately saw Ahly clinch the Champions League title.
