The White House said Thursday that a total of 79 American citizens and family members were among those who had arrived in Egypt through the Rafah border crossing so far.
In a press briefing on Thursday, John Kirby, the National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications, announced the figures, saying that 74 US citizens and family members had crossed the border on Thursday, in addition to five Americans who crossed into Egypt on Wednesday.
Kirby stressed the figures are "changing in real time."
In his statement, Blinken also said that both sides are firmly focused on a two-state solution and reject the forced relocation of Palestinians outside of the Gaza Strip.
On Thursday, Egypt's Foreign Ministry announced that it will receive over 7,000 foreign nationals from more than 60 countries from the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing.
Preparations are being made to provide ambulances and equip hospitals to handle emergency medical cases among the arriving foreigners, as well as Palestinians injured by the deadly Israeli airstrikes on Gaza since 7 October.
According to remarks by an Egyptian official at the crossing, about four hundred foreigners were expected to cross the border on Thursday, including 60 wounded.
On Wednesday, a total of 361 foreigners and dual nationals escaped Gaza, including 46 seriously wounded people and 30 others accompanying them, the Egyptian official stated.
