Both presidents reviewed the outcomes of regional and international diplomatic efforts to contain the situation, according to a statement by the Egyptian presidency.

They also agreed to urge the relevant parties to resolve the crisis in a peaceful manner, to implement the two-state solution, and to realize the establishment of a Palestinian state.

El-Sisi urged an immediate ceasefire to protect civilians and facilitate the prompt and unfettered delivery of humanitarian aid.

Macron also expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s role along both the political and humanitarian tracks. He noted Egypt's efforts to provide, coordinate, and deliver aid to the Gaza Strip, in addition to receiving wounded Palestinians and evacuating foreign nationals.

Israel’s attack on the city of Gaza, now on its 32nd day, has killed over 10,000 Palestinians and wounded 25,965 others.

Israel has also imposed a complete blockade on the enclave, allowing only a trickle of food and medical supplies and barring fuel into the blockaded Palestinian territory, despite global warnings of a developing humanitarian catastrophe.
