Market watch: EGX’s benchmark breaks all records on Thursday

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) continued its positive performance for the third day in a row, and the main index broke all records on Thursday, ending over 24,300 points. In contrast, gold prices dropped today and the 24-carat lost EGP 51 per gram.

Stock market

The EGX30 index rose 1.36 percent, settling at 24,312.92 points.

The EGX70 index edged higher by 0.1 percent, ending at 4,659 points.

The EGX100 index increased by 0.11 percent to close at 6,909 points.

The market capitalization gained more than EGP 16 billion, ending at around EGP 1,633 billion.

Golden Textiles & Clothes Wool was the biggest winner in the market. The stock surged 19.99 percent to close at EGP 20.89 per share.

The greatest loser in the market was Contact Financial Holding. The stock fell 9.45 percent to end at EGP 3.45 per share.

Gold purchase prices

The purchase price of 24-carat gold reached EGP 2,949 per gram, EGP 51 lower compared to Wednesday.

The 21-carat gold price decreased by EGP 45 to EGP 2,580 per gram.

The 18-carat gold price edged EGP 39 lower to EGP 2,211 per gram.

The price of the gold pound coin declined by EGP 360, recording EGP 20,640 for purchase.

With a buy rate of EGP 30.8306 and a sell rate of EGP 30.9586, the official EGP/USD exchange rate remains stable.

The euro is valued at EGP 32.9486 for purchase and EGP 33.0978 for sale.

The Saudi riyal is priced at EGP 8.2193 to buy and EGP 8.2539 to sell.
