As a precautionary measure, the site was taken offline by the relevant authorities, a ministry statement said.
Normal operations of the website are anticipated to resume by Sunday’s end.
According to an official statement issued by the Ministry, all services and data on the website remain secure and unaffected by this hacking attempt.
It added that the Cairo International Airport company adheres to the highest standards of cybersecurity, ensuring the safety of all data and information.
The Cairo Airport Company will immediately initiate investigations to identify the perpetrator of this attempt and take legal action against them, the statement added.
A hacking group calling itself “Anonymous Collective” claimed online on Saturday on its Telegram channel that it hacked and brought down the official website of Cairo International Airport as well as its server and mobile application.
On Sunday, the group said that the website was still down claiming that this was the biggest hacking operation against an Egyptian airport to date.
