This match holds significant importance for Ahly as they prepare for a packed December schedule.

Ahly commenced their title defense campaign with a resounding 4-0 victory over Masry, followed by triumphs against Ismaily, Arab Contractors, and Ceramica Cleopatra.

However, they faced a minor setback earlier this month when they settled for a draw against Gouna.

In contrast, Smouha had a challenging start to the season, suffering a 5-1 defeat to both Zamalek and Ittihad of Alexandria. They also shared points with Gouna and ZED FC.

Nevertheless, Smouha bounced back with victories over Baladeyet El-Mahalla and Arab Contractors.

Currently, Ahly top the Egyptian League table with 13 points from five matches, leading runners-up Pyramids FC by virtue of goal difference.

Smouha, on the other hand, sit in 12th place with eight points from six games.

Ahly are to remain without Tunisian left-back Ali Maaloul, French striker Anthony Modeste, and Moroccan winger Reda Slim due to injuries.

Mahmoud "Kahraba" Abdel-Moneim, who is serving a six-game suspension, will miss his final game of the penalty on Tuesday.

Swiss coach Marcel Koller is expected to field striker Salah Mohsen to lead the attack, while South African winger Percy Tau may also be deployed in a central role.

Mohsen showcased his potential during the 3-0 victory over Ghana's Medeama in the opening game of the CAF Champions League group stage on Saturday.

Ahly aim to solidify their position at the top of the league standings before traveling to Tanzania to face Young Africans in the second round of Group D matches in the continental tournament later this week.

The Cairo giants are preparing for a demanding December schedule, commencing with two crucial games in the CAF Champions League.

Subsequently, they will fly to Saudi Arabia to participate in the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup, commencing on 15 December.
