The Cairo giants have endured an uncharacteristic start to the season, registering just two wins from their opening six league fixtures. Two consecutive 2-1 defeats to Enppi and newly promoted ZED FC have left Zamalek languishing in tenth position in the standings with just eight points.
The White Knights' underwhelming performances prompted the club's management to part ways with Colombian coach Juan Osorio, appointing Moatamed Gamal as interim coach until a permanent replacement is found.
Under Gamal's guidance, Zamalek secured a spot in the 2022 Egypt Cup final, edging Pyramids FC 4-3 on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw in extra time. They subsequently claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Libya's Abu Salim in their Confederation Cup Group A opener on Sunday.
The Cairo giants have received a double boost ahead of the Future FC clash, with defensive duo Mahmoud Alaa and Abdallah Gomaa declared fit after recovering from their respective injuries.
Meanwhile, Modern Future FC seek to rediscover their winning formula following their recent 1-0 loss to Enppi, a setback that has dropped them to third place in the table with 12 points garnered from four wins and two defeats.
Zamalek will be keen to reassert their dominance over Future FC, as the latter have failed to overcome the White Knights in their last four encounters.
