Last days of the eighth Sharm El-Sheikh International Theatre Festival for Youth (SITFY)

It will be held in the last days of the eighth Sharm El-Sheikh International Theatre Festival for Youth (SITFY), which runs between 25 and 30 November in Sharm El-Sheikh.

Held annually, the SITFY is the first of its kind to be organized in Sinai. It was launched to provide opportunities for young theatre practitioners and to contribute to decentralizing the artistic scene and resuscitate tourism in South Sinai.

The founder and president of SITFY is Mazen El-Gharabawy and Ingy El-Bastawi is the artistic director.

Mazaher ensemble (Zar)

Mazaher is an ensemble in which women play a leading role.

The musicians of Mazaher, Um Sameh, Um Hassan, and Nour El-Sabah, are among the last remaining Zar practitioners in Egypt. The music is inspired by the three different musical styles of the Zar tradition practiced in Egypt.

Swim 62 - film

Swim 62 is a documentary that shines light on the urgent global issue of climate change and the need for environmental awareness.

At the heart of this mission is Mansour Al-Dhaheri. His journey begins when he sets out to conquer his own fear of swimming. Mansour attracts the interest of others to join in his emerging mission to swim around Abu Dhabi Island. 

What begins as a personal challenge rapidly grows into a community cause to raise awareness of the pressing need for action on climate change.

Blue Iris - concert

The Two Wheel Code - theatre play

The Two Wheel Code is a physical theater play about the daily struggles of three characters that maneuver around Cairo on wheelchairs. 

On the path of their daily life, they encounter a few challenges. It is through physical and artistic expression that they explore ways to adapt to the daily struggles trying to make sense of a lot of issues that surround them.

What Have The Years Done To Us - theatre play

Falaki Theatre, American University in Cairo – Tahrir campus

Directed by Mohamed Samir, the play is about a modern couple who while attempting to communicate their feelings towards each other in different stages of their relationship, they notice the presence of their inner voices in the room.

The play explores the contrast between what we think and what we say in the context of love and relationships.

The Gypsy Jazz Project - concert

The Gypsy Jazz Project presents a mixture of up-swinging, waltzy, and sometimes quite tranquil and ballad-ish music that was first influenced by the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli.

The band’s line-up includes Michael Adel (guitar, vocals), Amr Soliman (guitar), Amir Latif (violin, trumpet), and Andrew Safwat (double bass).

Dégradé - film

Directed by the twin brothers Arab and Tarzan Nasser, Dégradé (Degrade) marks their feature debut and made its premiere in competition at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015, at La Semaine de la Critique.

Dégradé takes place entirely in a women’s hair salon in Gaza on a hot summer’s day. Today the electricity is on and Christine’s beauty salon is heaving with female clients.

Their day of leisure is disrupted when gunfire breaks out across the street. A gangland family has stolen the lion from Gaza’s only zoo. As a confrontation between the police and a local gangster plays out beyond the salon’s walls, the women are trapped inside for thirteen hours.

Arab Heritage Music Ensemble - concert

The concert will feature known songs performed by Fayza Ahmed (1934-1983), a Syrian-Egyptian-Lebanese singer and actress.

The Arab Heritage Music Ensemble will be conducted by Mohamed El-Mougy.
