Chairman of Egypt’s State Information Service (SIS) Diaa Rashwan said Wednesday that 239 planes with aid for Gaza have been received at Egypt’s Arish Airport since 21 October, stressing that Egypt is continuing to deliver humanitarian aid through the Rafah border crossing.

Rashwan noted that 2,670 truckloads of aid have entered Gaza through the Rafah border crossing in this period.

These trucks have carried 11,972 tons of food aid, 9,111 tons of water, 2,973 tons of medical aid, 127 tents and tarpaulins, and 2,611 tons of other relief materials.

He added that 1,178 tons of fuel had entered Gaza during the same time.

Rashwan noted that dozens of countries as well as humanitarian organizations and institutions contributed to sending this humanitarian aid to Gaza, pointing out that 70 percent of the aid has been provided by Egypt.

Meanwhile, Egypt has received 575 injured Palestinians from Gaza for treatment in Egyptian hospitals, Rashwan said.

He added that as many as 8,691 foreign and dual nationals, as well as 1,258 Egyptians. Egypt has also facilitated the return of 421 Palestinians stuck in Egypt to the Gaza Strip.

The SIS head added that the extension of the truce has proceeded without obstructions, thanks to intensified efforts by Egypt and Qatar, along with the active engagement of the US.

The initial truce, which was set to expire on Monday, was extended by two days, involving the release of 10 captives held by Hamas in Gaza in exchange for 30 Palestinians from Israeli prisons each day.

The extension will also allow more medical, food, and fuel aid into the strip, alongside a ceasefire and ban on Israeli flights over the Gaza Strip.
