Aboul-Gheit's remarks were delivered on his behalf by the Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Sector of the League of Arab States Ambassador Saeed Abu Ali.
Speaking on International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Aboul-Gheit urged the global community to adopt a genuine and committed stance against the Israeli occupation.
The secretary-general underscored the imperative of deterring the Israeli occupation, insisting that it must acquiesce to international will for an immediate and sustainable ceasefire.
He stressed the necessity of initiating a bona fide peace process as the sole path to terminating what he described as a "hateful racist occupation" and achieving lasting security and stability in the region.
Expressing deep concern over the ongoing Israeli aggression against Palestinians, Aboul-Gheit condemned the heinous war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity that have transpired in full view of the international community.
He questioned the moral threshold of the human conscience, asking how much longer it could endure the horrific massacres and the Israeli thirst for revenge against innocent Palestinian civilians.
Aboul-Gheit called for an end to the double standards and impunity for Israel, proposing the prosecution of Israeli officials in international courts for their alleged war crimes against the Palestinian people. He welcomed official complaints submitted to the International Criminal Court and urged expedited investigations to hold all Israeli officials accountable for their actions.
The secretary-general highlighted the critical juncture in the Palestinian issue, emphasizing the Israeli government's attempts to liquidate opportunities for peace. He issued a stern warning about the failure to implement a just solution over the past 76 years, emphasizing the need to address the crimes of the Israeli colonial occupation and its systematic policies undermining the two-state solution.
Acknowledging the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, Aboul-Gheit commended the efforts of Arab countries and the League of Arab States in providing humanitarian, health, and relief support to the Palestinian people. He called for continued and increased aid to address the pressing needs of the people in Gaza.
Aboul-Gheit expressed gratitude to those worldwide standing in solidarity on the day of solidarity with Palestine. He hailed the Spanish government's intention to recognize the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital and urged other nations to swiftly follow suit, committing to the two-state solution for the sake of regional peace.
Wrapping up his remarks, Aboul-Gheit paid tribute to Palestinian martyrs and the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, expressing hope for peace and freedom in their independent state, with Jerusalem as its capital.
