Veteran Egyptian actress Nabila Ebeid honored at Saudi Red Sea Film Festival

While celebrating “Women in Cinema,” the Red Sea International Film Festival, Jeddah (30 November - 9 December), and Vanity Fair honored the renowned Egyptian actress Nabila Ebeid.

The actress was honored during the special celebrative 5th “Women in Cinema” dinner, an evening that aimed at shining light on the achievements of women, both on and behind the camera, who are helping shape the film industry and inspire a new generation of talents in Saudi Arabia, Africa, and India.

Held at the Shangri-La in Jeddah, the event saw the attendance of numerous notable guests: Catherine Deneuve, Naomi Campbell, Sofia Vergara, Sharon Stone, Zoe Saldana, Nadine Njeim, Nabila Ebeid, Michelle Williams, Sarah Taibah, Sarah Murad, Yasmine Sabry, Katrina Kaif, Ananya, and Alessandra Ambrosio, among many other women from the international cinema industry.

"Nabila is Egypt’s first screen icon, who has been a part of the country’s robust cinema landscape and a legend of 20th-century Arab cinema. From her debut at 16, and throughout a decades-long career, she has collaborated with many of Egypt’s leading directors and been an adored star of the region’s films," read the Red Sea Film Festival's press release.

Starring in numerous films since the 1960s, Ebeid’s large body of works includes Youssef Chahine’s  The Other (1999), The Woman and the Cleaver (1996), The Virgin and the White Hair (1983), Rabaa Al-Adawiya (1963), The Dancer and the Drummer (1984), and The Dancer and the Politician (1990), among other important films.
