The war started after the Hamas-led Al-Aqsa Flood Operation on October 7, in which around 1,200 were killed and 240 taken captives, according to Israeli authorities.
Since then, Israel has been targeting Gaza with an air and ground campaign that killed nearly 15,523 people; 70% of the dead were women and children, according to the Palestinian health ministry.
The ministry also said that more than 40,000 people were wounded in the campaign, which reduced large parts of the north of the territory to rubble.
