Market watch: EGX marks second positive day in row; gold prices unchanged

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indices closed Monday in the green territory, marking the second positive session in a row, while the market cap gained EGP 28 billion.

Gold prices remained the same as on Sunday.

Stock market
 

The EGX30 index jumped 2.19 percent, settling at 25,334 points.

The EGX70 rose 0.69 percent to end at 5,487 points; the EGX100 index grew 1.09 percent to close at 7,963 points.

The market capitalization gained EGP 28 billion, ending at around EGP 1,711 billion.

Themar for Securities Brokerage’s stock soared by 16.86 percent to close at EGP 5.96 per share, making it the biggest winner on the stock exchange.

However, the worst performer on the exchange on Monday was The Egyptian Modern Education Systems. The stock fell 6.55 percent to EGP 0.314 per share.

Gold purchase prices
 

The purchase price of 24-carat gold reached EGP 3,291 per gram on Monday, unchanged from Sunday.

The 21-carat gold price recorded EGP 2,880 per gram, and the 18-carat gold price registered EGP 2,469 per gram, the same as on Sunday.

The price of the gold pound remained at EGP 23,040 for purchase.

Currencies
 

The official EGP/USD exchange rate remains stable at EGP 30.8277 for buying and EGP 30.9586 for selling.

The euro is valued at EGP 33.6423 for purchase and EGP 33.7975 for sale.

The Saudi riyal is priced at EGP 8.2166 for buying and EGP 8.2532 for selling.
