According to Shousha, Arish Airport has received 340 flights bearing aid to Gaza so far.
On the other hand, four aid ships from Turkey, the UAE, Italy, and France are currently docked at Al-Arish Seaport, in addition to two other vessels -- one French and the other Italian -- carrying field hospitals.
Shousha also revealed that two injury cases from Gaza were airlifted by helicopter on Wednesday from the French medical field hospital ship “Dixmude” to Cairo for further treatment at Maadi Military Hospital.
Furthermore, the governor of North Sinai highlighted that the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing received 777 injured individuals, 21 of whom have been treated at Arish General Hospital, and 371 cases were transferred to other hospitals.
Shousha added that North Sinai had become the centre for collecting all aid to Gaza before being quickly prepared and transported through the Rafah border crossing to the strip.
He stressed that peace and security prevail in North Sinai, adding that the authorities were working on establishing a logistics services area for storing aid and other items.
“The waterfront of the new Arish Seaport will act as a logistics area for storage of aid that will contribute to facing any emergency in cooperation with the Egyptian Red Crescent,” Shousha said.
The Governor of North Sinai also explained that the headquarters of the Sinai Union Club has been converted into a recovery area for stabilized cases.
“The governorate is taking care of them, providing all the necessary facilities for them and those accompanying them,” Shousha said.
He said the governorate also allocated three buildings in the Sabil area west of Arish for Gazans stranded in Egypt’s Rafah and unable to cross the border to get to their families.
Shousha also highlighted that they shall remain in the care of the governorate.
