With a remarkable record of 25 matches played in nine appearances at the FIFA Club World Cup, the African and Egyptian champions maintained their supremacy over Asian sides to get on the podium after previous achievments in 2006, 2020 and 2021.

Howevr they still have the regret of never reaching the final game despite playing the semi-finals on six occasions.

Defender Yasser Ibrahim opened the scoring in the 19th minute to give Ahly a well-deserved lead.

South African winger Percy Tau doubled the scoring, six minutes later, from close range after Ahmed "Koka" Hassan had dispossessed the last defender.

Urawa Reds' Guinean striker Jose Kante managed to find the back of the net two minutes before halftime, taking advantage of a lapse in Ahly's defense to unleash a powerful strike from inside the area.

Midfielder Alexander Scholz leveled the score for the Japanese side in the 54th minute from the penalty spot.

Ahly restored their lead in the 60th minute when defender Koizumi inadvertently deflected a powerful strike from Ahly's left-back Ali Maaloul into his own net.

The Tunisian full back wasted a golden opportunity to put the tie to bed when he saw his penalty kick saved in the 74th minute.

However, he redeemed himself in injury time with an unstoppable free-kick from outside the area that found the far corner of the goal.

Ahly dominated the game from the start, asserting their dominance over the Asian champions and securing an early lead.

The Red Devils began the tournament on a positive note, securing a 3-1 victory over hosts Ittihad Jeddah in the quarterfinals.

However, they stumbled in the semifinals, suffering a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Brazil's Fluminense.

Ahly stands as the second-most frequent participant in the Club World Cup, trailing behind Auckland City.

Later on Friday, Manchester City will face Fluminense from Brazil in the final match of the prestigious tournament.
