Zamalek’s left-back Ahmed Fattouh has agreed to extend his contract with the club for another three years, despite being currently suspended, as announced by the club's spokesman Ahmed Salem on Monday.

"Fattouh has signed a three-year contract extension, effective from next year, after finalizing all contract details with the club’s management," Salem revealed during a television program.

The 25-year-old defender had been suspended by Zamalek management after leaving the team's camp without permission, just a day before a league game against ZED FC last November.

"Fattouh will release a video on the club’s channel to apologize to the club's management and supporters," Salem added.

Egyptian media reports suggested that Fattouh was considering a move away from Zamalek due to his suspension.

"Fattouh's video will serve as a message to everyone, expressing his admiration for Zamalek and the fans, as well as denying any rumors linking him with a departure from the club," Salem clarified.

Fattouh's initial contract with Zamalek was set to expire by the end of 2023, but with the signing of the new agreement, he will remain with the club until 2027.

The Egyptian international star made his debut with Zamalek's senior team in 2020 after completing a loan spell with Smouha.

He has made 133 appearances for Zamalek in various competitions, scoring five goals and providing 12 assists thus far.

Fattouh has represented the Egyptian national team in 25 matches, scoring one goal, including seven games in the 2022 African World Cup qualifiers and five games in the 2021 African Cup of Nations.

He played an instrumental role in Egypt's qualification for the 2023 African Cup of Nations, scheduled to be held in Ivory Coast in January 2024.
