El-Sisi and Blinken also agreed to hold “intensive” consultations with various parties to de-escalate the situation in Gaza and prevent the conflict from spreading, according to a statement by the Egyptian Presidency.

Blinken arrived in Egypt on Thursday on the last leg of his Middle East tour. 

During the meeting, El-Sisi outlined Egypt’s vision for resolving the conflict and the Egyptian efforts to communicate with all parties to reach an immediate ceasefire and ensure unfettered access to humanitarian aid in Gaza.

The Egyptian president also urged the international community to assume its responsibilities to implement the relevant UN resolutions on delivering sufficient quantities of aid to Gaza to end the humanitarian catastrophe there.

El-Sisi said de-escalation efforts should lead to a just and comprehensive settlement to the Palestinian issue that addresses the roots of the current situation and enables the Palestinian people to obtain their legitimate rights, thus spreading security, prosperity, and development to the whole region.

Blinken's Middle East tour is his fourth since the breakout of the Gaza war.

He had previously reiterated US support for the establishment of a Palestinian state and rejection of any deportation of the Palestinians.
