The 24-team prestigious continental contest is set to kick off on Saturday in Cote d Ivoire and lasts until 11 February.
"We are delighted to arrive in Côte d'Ivoire for the second consecutive Africa Cup of Nations. We are well prepared for the competition and we are ready for the start of the competition,” Tom Saintfiet told the official website of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Friday.
Drawn into Group C, Gambia, who made their AFCON debut in the 2022 edition in Cameroon, will face tough opponents including Cameroon, Guinea, and reigning champions Senegal.
“We expect the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Côte d'Ivoire to be special and good, especially with the presence of Gambia alongside Senegal, Guinea and Cameroon in one Group”, the Belgian coach continued.
Gambia encountered an unfortunate incident while arriving in cote d'ivoire as their planehad to make an emergency landing due to the loss of cabin pressure and oxygen on board.
Several players were affected with minor respiratory but the team made it on board of another flight and trained normally after.
Gambia’s opening match in the tournament is scheduled against Senegal on Monday.
