Zamalek reached the IHF Super Globe semis despite slumping to a 29-25 loss to Spain's Atletico Madrid in Qatari capital Doha on Wednesday.
The Cairo side went through after finishing second in their group which also included Metodista Sao Bernardo of Brazil and Qatar's El-Jaish.
Zamalek went to the locker room with a six-goal lead but were outplayed in the second half to lose to Atletico and miss out on the chance of finishing on top of the group.
They will face German side THW Kiel in the semifinal on Friday.
