Bassem Naim, a member of Hamas’ political bureau in Gaza, condemned in a statement on Wednesday Germany's intention to provide tank shells to Israel amid the ongoing war on Gaza.

"We denounce in the strongest terms Germany's intention to agree on sending about ten thousand tank shells to the Zionist occupation, which turns Germany into a direct partner in the war against our people, being fully responsible politically and morally for the war crimes committed by this Nazi-Zionist government and the genocidal war against our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip," Naim said.

According to a report by Der Spiegel, Israel had requested approval to deliver approximately 10,000 rounds of 120-millimetre precision ammunition manufactured by Rheinmetall.

The German government, as revealed by the magazine, has already made fundamental agreements behind the scenes to fulfill Israel's request.

The move comes as Western governments continue to extend support to the Tel Aviv regime for its military actions against Gaza, with the United States having previously approved the delivery of 14,000 rounds of tank ammunition for almost $106 million in December 2023.

The Israeli Ambassador Ron Prosor, expressing gratitude for the support received from Germany, noted that since 7 October, Germany has unequivocally stood by Israel.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz emphasized that arms deliveries were possible, and to expedite the request, consideration is being given to releasing ammunition from the stocks of the German army, as the industry cannot provide the desired precision ammunition immediately.

Naim drew parallels with Germany's history, accusing the country of reproducing its past sins against humanity and expressing that the Palestinian people would not forget or forgive those involved in the aggression.

"Here we affirm that our people will not forget or forgive anyone who participated in the aggression against them or gave cover to this criminal enemy who violated all taboos," he concluded.
