According to the Palestinian Red Crescent (PRCS), the ongoing work targets setting up another 100 tents to increase the capacity to accommodate another 6,000 displaced people in the Al-Mawassi area.
The PRCS also announced that the first stage has already accommodated 190 families.
The first stage of the camp included setting up 1,050 tents over 100 feddans in Gaza to accommodate 5,000 refugees.
According to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), more than 85 percent of Gaza's 2.4 million population has been internally displaced multiple times, primarily from the North to the South, and sought refuge in 155 UNRWA facilities. According to recent news reports, approximately 70 percent of Gaza's 439,000 homes and nearly half of its buildings have suffered damage or were destroyed.
Since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza on 7 October, Egypt has spearheaded efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in Gaza through the Rafah border crossing despite constant Israeli aggression and bombardment.
