Egypt’s army foils a second attempt at drug smuggling on Northeastern borders

The Egyptian Armed Forces said it successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle 300 kilograms of various types of drugs along the northeastern borders.

Egyptian Armed Forces Spokesman Gharib Abdel-Hafez Gharib said in a statement on Thursday that three smugglers were killed in the operation.

The spokesman emphasized the Armed Forces’ ongoing vigilant efforts to secure all strategic directions of the country.

This is the second drug smuggling attempt to be foiled by the Egyptian army this week. 

The Egyptian Armed Forces announced on Tuesday that it successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 174 kilograms of various types of drugs south of the El-Ouga border crossing with Israel after a firefight that resulted in the killing of one person and the arresting of six smugglers.
