During the meeting, the technical team provided a detailed explanation of the car's manufacturing process and technical specifications, according to a statement by the ministry.
Minister Ashour urged the team to proceed with the project to ensure it is ready this year.
The car is being developed by local car manufacturer EgyptSat Auto in collaboration with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASMT), with investments worth EGP 300 million ($9.7 million).
In September 2023, Egypt’s Cabinet granted the company a golden license to build and operate a factory in the 10th of Ramadan City to produce electric vehicles.
In August of the same year, AASTMT’s Vice President and EgyptSat Auto CEO Mohamed Al Ghamry announced that the car would be ready for the local market during the first quarter of 2024.
The prototype was first unveiled in February 2023 to Prime Minister Madbouly.
In 2021, Nasr Automotive had initially sought to manufacture the Nasr E70 through a partnership with China's Dongfeng Motor Co. However, the memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the collaboration was not renewed.
