Cairo Int'l Book Fair exceeds 1 mln visitors in three days

Egypt's Ministry of Culture announced on Sunday that the Cairo International Book Fair has surpassed one million visitors after only three days since opening its doors to the public.

The current edition of the Cairo International Book Fair, held under the slogan "Creating Knowledge ... Preserving the Word," was opened to the public on Thursday, 25 January and runs until 6 February.

Ahmed Bahi El-Din, chairman of the Egyptian General Book Authority, noted that the total attendance on the third day, Saturday, of the fair reached 404,931 visitors, surpassing one million visitors in just three days since its opening, totalling 1,009,983 visitors, read the official announcement.

The book fair's five exhibition halls host 1,200 publishing houses from 70 countries.

The impressive line-up includes 500 events held throughout the fair, covering various literary and cultural topics.

First inaugurated in 1969, the Cairo International Book Fair is one of the largest in the world and the oldest in the Arab world. 

Between 1984 and 2019, the fair was held at the Cairo International Fair Zone in Nasr City. In 2020, it was moved to the more spacious and better-equipped International Exhibition Centre in New Cairo, where it is still held.

Visitor’s guide
 

The fair, which takes place at Egypt International Exhibition Centre in New Cairo, is open for visitors from Sunday through Wednesday, from 10 am to 8 pm and to 9 pm on Thursday and Friday.

Tickets for the fair can be easily purchased on-site at the ticket booth for EGP 5 or through the fair’s official website.  

Visitors can easily reach the fair using 11 designated bus lines provided by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and the Public Transport Authority.

Bus lines operate from several main squares in Cairo, ensuring convenient access for attendees.
