Last week, El-Sisi called for the launch of a second round of the national dialogue with a more profound and comprehensive approach to tackle the current economic challenges amid the country’s hard currency crunch.
In a statement on Sunday, Rashwan expressed the appreciation of the National Dialogue’s Board of Trustees for the president for his successive affirmations of the importance of the dialogue in tackling all vital issues, including the current economic conditions.
Rashwan invited all organizations and individuals wishing to participate in the second round of the dialogue to submit their proposals and insights on various aspects and challenges besetting the Egyptian economy within two weeks, ending on 11 February.
Following the two weeks, Rashwan said, the board of trustees will convene and set a timetable for the dialogue.
He said the board has already received the 2024-2030 Most Prominent Strategic Directions of the Egyptian Economy from Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly, stressing that the document would be among the most significant papers to be discussed during the dialogue.
The National Dialogue was launched in May upon a call from El-Sisi to address Egypt's diverse political, economic, and social issues.
In August, the first round of discussions concluded with a set of recommendations that was delivered to El-Sisi. The president has ordered enacting the necessary legislation to implement the recommendations.
In September, the dialogue’s activities were adjourned until the conclusion of the presidential election, in which El-Sisi secured a third term in office.
