Zamalek sign Tanta forward after transfer ban lifted

Ahram Online , Monday 29 Jan 2024

Following the announcement of the lifting of the transfer ban imposed by FIFA, Zamalek wasted no time in making their first signing of this winter transfer window by signing Tanta forward Mohamed Atef.

The 23-year-old, who came up through the youth ranks of Ismaily, has been in impressive form this season, scoring six goals for the second division side.

Zamalek confirmed the transfer by stating, "The club has accepted the transfer of Mohamed Atef to Zamalek. We wish the player all the success at his new club."

The transfer ban was imposed on Zamalek last year due to various cases involving unpaid dues to clubs and players.

However, the ban was lifted on Monday, allowing the club to make new signings.

Zamalek find themselves in 12th place on the league table with 11 points from eight matches, trailing leaders ZED FC by eight points, with the latter having played two more matches.

Zamalek have been linked with several other players in this winter transfer window, including Pyramids FC veteran playmaker Abdallah El-Saed, Egypt U-23 midfielder Mohamed Shehata, and Modern Future midfielder Nasser Maher.

The transfer window is scheduled to close at the end of January.
