This marks the fourth acquisition for the White Knights this winter, following the captures of Tanta forward Mohamed Atef, Pyramids FC playmaker Abdallah El-Said and Dakhleya winger Mohab Yasser.
Mohab, 26, joined Dakhleya from Egyptian Premier League side Enppi in October 2022. During his time there, he made 11 appearances with the first team and scored one goal.
The decision to bring Maher on board comes after Zamalek received the green light to make transfers, following the lifting of their transfer ban imposed by FIFA.
The club aims to rebuild their squad after a catastrophic start of the season and is investing significantly to achieve that goal.
Maher, 26, joined Modern Future in September 2021 from Ahly, after winning league and cup titles in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
He won the League Cup title with Modern Future in 2022.
Zamalek currently sits in 12th place on the league table with 11 points from eight matches, trailing leaders ZED FC by eight points. However, they have two games in hand, which presents an opportunity to climb higher in the standings.
In the African Confederation Cup, the White Knights are leading Group B with 10 points from four games, boasting an impressive record of three wins and one draw.
The talented midfielder will not be eligible to participate in the African Confederation Cup for Zamalek as he had already played with Modern Future FC earlier this season in the same tournament.
