India's Prime Minister Modi praises Indian singing of Egypt's Kariman

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the young Egyptian girl Kariman for her rendition of the patriotic song “Desh Rangeela” during the celebrations of the 75th Republic Day of India, retweeting the tweet uploaded by the Indian embassy in Cairo.

On the occasion of the 75th Republic Day of India, the flag hoisting ceremony, organized by the Indian embassy, was held at India House in Cairo on 26 January 2024.

During the event, young Egyptians showcased their love for Indian dancing and music through their mesmerizing performances. The Indian embassy in Cairo tweeted some of these performances. Many of these tweets showing Egyptian talents went viral on social media, including in India.

Prime Minister Modi congratulated Kariman for her efforts and wished her the very best in her future endeavours, commenting that her rendition was melodious.

The Indian prime minister has often highlighted the historic civilizational contacts and close cultural links between India and Egypt, expressing appreciation for the warmth and love Egyptians have for India and Indian culture.

Moreover, during Modi’s state visit to Egypt in June 2023, the prime minister was welcomed by another young Egyptian girl Jenna, who sang “Yeh Dosti Ham Nahi Todenge” (we will never leave this friendship), which received significant media coverage in both countries.
