15 killed, 7 injured in a desert road collision in Alexandria

Fifteen people were killed and seven others injured Tuesday evening when a trailer truck collided with a a microbus and a small passenger car on the Amreya desert road.



The collision took place near the free zone in Amreya.

Security forces and ambulances rushed to the scene.

The injured were transported to the Amreya General Hospital for treatment, while the bodies were brought to several morgues in Alexandria.

The Public Prosecution will conduct an investigation.

Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced in August the country experienced an 8.7 percent rise in road accident injuries in 2022 compared to the previous year.

As part of ongoing efforts to develop and upgrade the nation's road system as part of the 2014 National Road Project, the government has been aiming to prevent traffic accidents by enhancing road safety measures.
