The 26-year-old midfielder recently returned to the Red Devils after representing Mali in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where the Eagles were eliminated in the quarterfinals.

However, upon his return, Dieng experienced discomfort in his knee during regular training, and scans revealed that he needed surgery.

"Aliou is currently undergoing a rehabilitation program to recover from a recent knee bruise," stated Ahly's doctor, Ahmed Gaballah, on the club's official website.

"He will undergo further medical tests to evaluate his condition and continue the rehabilitation program in the upcoming period." The doctor added.

Since joining Ahly from Algeria's MC Alger during the 2019 summer transfer window, Dieng has made 203 appearances for the club, contributing seven goals and 11 assists.

He helped the team secure 13 trophies, including three CAF Champions League titles in 2020, 2021, and 2023, along with two CAF Super Cup titles and two Egyptian Premier League titles during the same period.
