Thurs 22, 7pm: “Nights of Ideas” is a project that began in 2016 with the goal of creating dialogue about the great challenges of our time. As for the 2024 edition, its theme is “Controversial Matters.” This topic addresses the new dynamics of polarizing ideas, that are emerging at the international level in the heart of our society.

Meet French novelist and philosopher Nathan Devers during the “Nights of Ideas” 2024. Born in 1997, he joined the École Normale Supérieure in 2016 and obtained a professorship in philosophy in 2020. Among his books are A Place Designated for Smokers, 2021, in addition to two novels: Heaven and Earth, that won the Intralier Prize for first novel and Artificial Ties, 2022, winner of the Goncourt Orient Prize 2022. In his novel Artificial Ties, the writer paints a picture of his generation who live a life in which reality and the virtual field intersect and even merge. He combines the topic of the disaster facing youth with the topic of art, with lightness and intelligence, and even presents philosophical ideas through his interesting narration. Devers represents a unique intellectual and artistic case that should not be missed!

Tues 27, 7pm: Join us for a discussion of author Hamza Hamouchine’s book Le défi du capitalisme vert (The Challenge of Green Capitalism), which examines the challenges of the energy transition to a green-oriented future in countries in the Middle East and North Africa. However, this desire for change is hampered by the fact that this transformation remains obstructive. The book examines the reasons for this stagnation and raises questions about the plunder of these countries’ resources and the interests of foreign countries. In addition to this analysis, the book presents proposals to break this deadlock. The discussion in Arabic is moderated by journalist Wael Gamal.
