The Red Devils are determined to solidify their position at the top of Group D, however.

With six points from four rounds, Ahly lead the group, while Medeama sit at the bottom with four points.

Ahly requested the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to postpone the game after their private jet was involved in a minor accident at Accra airport in Ghana on Wednesday.

In a statement on Ahly's official website, it was revealed that the plane was unfit to fly, and with no alternative means of transportation available, playing the game as scheduled on Friday would be extremely challenging.

"The club has therefore approached CAF to request a postponement of the match," the statement added.

Ultimately, Ahly's plane arrived in Kumasi City, Ghana on Thursday, a mere 24 hours before the game.

Newly signed Palestinian striker Wessam Abou Ali has been included in Ahly’s squad for the first time since joining the team this winter. He was not available for the Belouizdad game due to injury.

Meanwhile, influential forward Mahmoud 'Kahraba' Abdel-Moneim was not among the travelling squad for personal reasons.

As the reigning CAF Champions League title holders, Ahly showcased their dominance in the previous encounter against Medeama, securing a convincing 3-0 victory at WE Al-Ahly Stadium last November.

Medeama, making their debut in the CAF Champions League group stage, have exhibited resilience by overcoming obstacles to reach this stage.

Group D leaders Ahly face close competition from Belouizdad and Tanzania's Young Africans, who are trailing by just one point.
