A graduate of the Higher Institute of Ballet in Cairo (Academy of Arts), Zayed served as dean of the institute between 2015 and 2018.
She is among the first generation of Egyptian ballerinas, with an extensive portfolio of performances. She later became a ballet instructor at the Academy of Arts.
Zayed trained at the Ballet Institute and the Talents Development Centre operating under the Cairo Opera House.
She participated in performances staged at France, Russia, the US, Canada, and Moscow.
Zayed received numerous honours and awards, including from the Korea Art Festival Award, the Arab Music Festival Award, and the Year of Friendship Award between Egypt and China.
Zayed is not the first chairperson of the Cairo Opera House with a ballet background. Egypt's first prima ballerina Madga Saleh (1944-2023) was the first chairwoman of the Opera (1987-1988) during its construction phase.
Renowned ballet dancer and choreographer Abdel Moneim-Kamel (1947-2013), an important figure in the creation of the Cairo Opera Ballet Company, became the Opera's chairman between 2004 and 2011.
Magdy Saber, who headed the Opera between 2018 and 2023 was a also graduate of the Higher Institute of Ballet in Cairo.
Zayed succeeds Khaled Dagher, renowned cello player and composer, who served as the Opera's chairman since February 2023. According to the culture ministry, Dagher's one-year appointment has ended.
