In a meeting with the members of the Examinations Development Department at the National Examination Centre, Hegazy announced that Thanaweya Amma exams for the academic year 2023/24 will be technically similar to those of the previous year, including the number of objective and essay questions in each subject.

He added that the exams will have the same grading criteria, which ensure clarity, specificity, and unambiguity in question formulation.

Hegazy said the exams for core-subjects (GPA subjects) will start on 22 June and the complete exam schedule will be announced soon.

Furthermore, the minister of education explained that the exams would be administered according to the open-book system, as in the previous year, in which students receive a concepts booklet at the beginning of each subject exam and hand it to the observer at the end.

Hegazy also emphasized the necessity of distributing grades for answering essay questions across the solution steps, not solely on the final result, and that a model answer encompassing all possible answers for essay questions will be provided.

He further affirmed that objective questions should be clear and specific, with only one correct answer among the four alternatives, and the need to ensure equivalence between second foreign language subjects.
