Renowned Egyptian poet Bakhit Bayoumi passes away at the age of 84

Egyptian poet Bakhit Bayoumi died early Tuesday morning at the age of 84.

Bayoumi was born on 18 June 1942, in the village of Kafr al-Hataba in Dakahliya Governorate.

He graduated from Al-Azhar High School in 1960 and also obtained a diploma in calligraphy.

Bayoumi started his life as a teacher in a private school before turning to writing songs.

He was famous for co-writing songs for the popular Fawazir Ramadan (Ramadan riddles), starring Nelly, for many years.
