Earlier on Tuesday, an Egyptian high-level security source said that the Egyptian Air Forces are set to carry out the airdrop in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates and Jordan.

This is Egypt’s first airdrop of humanitarian aid operation in the strip since the start of the Israeli aggression and blockade on Gaza on 7 October.

On Monday, the Jordanian army conducted a humanitarian aid airdrop operation of food and other supplies into the besieged Gaza Strip.

Aid to Gaza

Egypt has been facilitating the delivery of aid to 2.4 million Palestinians in Gaza under Israeli bombardment and blockade since 7 October through the Rafah and Karm Abu Salem border crossing between Egypt and the strip.

Israel has blocked hundreds of trucks loaded with thousands of tons of aid to Gaza at the Rafah crossing.

Cairo has accused Tel Aviv of deliberately impeding aid deliveries to Gaza through extremely slow inspection measures.

International aid organizations have warned that the Israeli blockade on food, medicine, and fuel has caused near-starvation conditions in the strip.

Arish International Airport in North Sinai has received over 500 planes carrying aid to Gaza from countries and aid groups around the world since the start of the war.

As of February, Egypt has provided 100,000 tons of humanitarian aid to people in Gaza out of 130,000 delivered to the strip, according to Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

In recent days, the Egyptian Red Crescent set up a second camp for displaced Palestinians in Khan Younis in southern Gaza in collaboration with the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.

Egypt is also preparing for the establishment of a third refugee camp in central Gaza’s Deir Al-Balah in addition to a field hospital with a well-equipped operations room, Al Qahera News reported on Tuesday, citing an informed source.

Moreover, Egypt, along with Qatar and the US, has been mediating talks to reach a truce deal between Israel and Hamas.

Meanwhile, Cairo has called on Israel to abandon its planned invasion of Rafah, emphasizing the catastrophic consequences such an action would have on the already dire humanitarian situation in the strip.
