New-signing Abou Ali shines as Ahly rout Baladeyet El-Mahalla 5-1

Ahly new signing Wessam Abou Ali netted twice as the Red Devils crushed Baladeyet El-Mahalla 5-1 in a delayed Egyptian League game at Cairo stadium on Tuesday.

The Palestinian striker joined the Cairo giants in January got few minutes against Medeama in the CAF Champions League before enjoying his first start against Baladeyet El-Mahalla on Tuesday.

He rewarded his coach after scoring a brace in the 5 th and 49 th minutes respectively.

The defending champions took advantage of a vulnerable Baladeyet El-Mahalla side, with Abou Ali opening the scoring just five minutes into the match after receiving a precise long pass from Rami Rabie.

Ten minutes later, Karim Fouad doubled Ahly's lead by capitalizing on a rebounded ball with a well-executed first-time shot.

With a comfortable two-goal lead, Ahly maintained control of the game while Baladeyet El-Mahalla continued to push forward, leaving themselves vulnerable to Ahly's counterattacks.

In the final minutes of the first half, Moroccan winger Reda Slim found the back of the net, initially disallowed for offside but later awarded after a VAR check, securing Ahly's third goal.

Shortly after the halftime break, Abou Ali added to his tally by converting a penalty awarded after Emam Ashour was fouled inside the box.

Ahly's under-fire striker Anthony Modeste, who came on as a substitute in the second half, contributed to the team's dominant performance by scoring the fifth goal in the 72nd minute, just ten minutes after entering the field.

Baladeyet El-Mahalla managed to salvage a consolation goal through a penalty converted by their striker Hossam Ashraf, four minutes before the end of the match.

Ashraf's goal brought his tally for the season to nine, making him the top scorer in the domestic league.

Following this victory, Ahly climbed to the ninth position in the league standings with 17 points, trailing leaders Enppi by nine points, although Enppi has played seven more matches.
