The 37-year-old winger, who began his career with Zamalek over three decades ago, took to social media to express his delight at continuing his journey with the White Knights.

"I am honored to renew my contract with Zamalek, the biggest sports club in Egypt and the Arab world," Shikabala said in a statement. "The relationship between me and the club transcends written contracts; it's an eternal bond between a son raised and nurtured by this great club."

He also expressed gratitude to the fans and the club's board of directors, emphasizing his commitment to bringing success back to Zamalek.

"I thank the fans who have supported me throughout my career, and the board for their renewed confidence," Shikabala added. "Together, we will work towards bringing our beloved club back to the podiums, as promised throughout our history. Long live Zamalek and their fans!"

While Shikabala did not disclose the duration of the contract, Zamalek's official television channel reported it to be a two-year extension.

Shikabala's journey with Zamalek began in 2002 after graduating from the youth academy. He embarked on stints abroad with PAOK (Greece), Sporting Lisbon (Portugal), and Apollon (Greece), with other spells at UAE's Al-Wasl and Al-Raed of Saudi Arabia in between.

He boasts an impressive record with Zamalek, making 368 appearances, scoring 68 goals, and providing 86 assists.

He has been instrumental in the club's success, winning 12 trophies with the Cairo giants, including the 2002/03 CAF Super Cup.

Shikabala has also represented the Egyptian national team in 29 games, scoring one goal, and providing four assists.
